Body standards in Japan are a bit extreme, given the data that Japan follows stricter obesity standards compared with Western countries. Runways have often been categorized as non-compliant for plus-size fashion.
To tackle negative body stereotypes, Ai Momoka, who is a full-time nurse and a plus-size model and produces plus-size models and plus-size girls groups. It has taken the lead in decrying fat-shaming by hosting the very first fashion show by plus-size models in 2017. Beauty is for her much more than a slim frame. It’s about embracing the fact that women come in all shapes and sizes.
So this year in March, she produced once again a Plus-Size Runway at Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho in Tokyo, The ” Tokyo Glamourous Pocchari Collections 2019 AW”
Ai Momoka bring her brand Peach Spice for this runway in collaboration with the website Gold Japan !
