Bringing his known psychedelic and ultra kawaii style into interior design, japanese art director Sebastian Masuda – known worldwide for creating Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s music video visuals and running the iconic 6%DOKIDOKI “kawaii anarchy” boutique – has brought his “Kawaii Monster Café” to the fashionable Tokyo district of Harajuku.

Managed by Diamond Dining, an operator of themed restaurants like Alice in Wonderland, Pirates and Vampires, this crazy place is bursting with color and Alice in Wonderland-esque bizarreness. Just recently opened, this concept café is divided into four zones, each one embellished with its own theme and experience.

Greated by the giant Sweets-Go-Round, the focal point within the café that is actually a real cake merry-go-round, visitors can then choose between amazing areas such as:

Mushroom Disco – A large forest with colorful, poisonous-looking mushrooms and plants from outer space covering the area overhead.

Milk stand – where gigantic rabbit, sheep and unicorn heads drink milk and stare at you with deranged eyes.

Bar Experiment – a dark bar counter encapsulated by a jelly fish. This is the experiment room for the adults that lurk at the bottom of the sea.

Mel-Tea Room – filled with ice cream, chocolate and macaroons seated to look as though there are beginning to melt.

And of course a secret one: the VIP PinkCatRoom.

The menu – which includes for example ‘poison’ parfait, rainbow pasta and some Drug/Black Light cocktails -, is as unique as the eye-catching Monster Girls serving you. Each one of them with a different personality and costumed by Tokyo-based stylist Misha Janette.

The cafe also boasts a shop where you can buy a smattering of souvenirs, including ballpoint pens, tin badges, card cases, tote bags, T-shirts and strobe rings.

So, ready for the thrill?
