Shopping malls can be virtually the same no matter where you are but none are quite like Laforet in Shibuya. Located on the busy corner of Omotesando and Meiji-Dori, the Laforet shopping centre is notably fashion forward. Besides trendy brands like Guess, Vivienne Westwood and Moschino, Laforet houses several shops stock articles that live only in a fashionista’s dreams.
Among the dozens of shops that make up Laforet, are shops that carry brands unique to Tokyo fashion as well as a revolving door of “Pop-Up” shops featuring new designers or limited addition runs.
To keep up on what’s happening at Laforet, follow their Facebook page.
Iconic Goth/Lolita brand, ‘Alice and the Pirates’, has a shop in Laforet called ‘The Stars Shine Bright’ which carries all their classic lace and corset dresses along with tights and other accessories to complete this look.
‘Cannabis’ carries some of the most fashion forward apparel available today. Not always adhering to a certain trendy fashion label, ‘Cannabis’ curates Western, Parisian styles and marries them with wearable, Tokyo flavor.
“Red Letter” refers to dressing for someone else, usually the man who a lady wishes to attract and sweet brand ‘Snidel’ is the place to look for feminine apparel. Specializing in items that are soft in color and inviting to touch, ‘Snidel’ aims to create apparel that gentleman prefer.
Japanese designer, h. Naoto also has a place at Laforet. His looks have a bit of dark fantasy but he also creates pieces that are simple and wearable. Being able to browse racks directly from some of the most exciting designers available today is a special treat not provided by typical shopping malls.
